A successful case usually requires a significant amount of work on the part of the alien and his or her attorney. "Expert witnesses" which write about the alien's level of ability in the field are usually critical to the case. Their assessments must be carefully worded to take advantage of the negative or positive words or expressions which have been involved in other cases. Very subtle nuances involved in the impact of certain words and phrases can cause success or failure in a specific case. Words which would be extremely complementary in any other context could result in failure of the case. Careful legal craftsmanship is critical in all but the easiest (Noble Prize) cases.
