International Managers and Executives: (EB-1.3: Employment-based first preference)

To qualify for this category, the alien must have worked in a managerial or executive capacity abroad for at least one year out of the preceding three years. A job offer from a qualified U.S. company is required. A labor certification is not required for this category. This is an ideal way for companies to get permanent residence for certain managers and executives far more quickly than for others who must go through the labor certification cases. In many cases, this can be done in one year or less, as opposed to two, three, or even four years with the labor certification process.

Some of our cases have involved the president of a French sporting goods company which set up a subsidiary in Michigan, the chief executive of a highly sophisticated, international computer software company in New Jersey, as well as a number of computer project managers and other executives for that company, and a business manager for a small German communications company.

Persons who think they may qualify for international manager or executive status, or companies who have offices in both the U.S. and at least one other country who would like to transfer employees to the United States, should contact our office or fill out the form below to discuss the merits of their case.

For information on what happens after you have obtained international manager or executive status, please visit our section entitled "Consular Processing and Adjustment of Status."
